Letter from the President
Dear friends and colleagues,
It is a great honor and privilege to assume the president position of SBCPO – Brazilian Oculoplastic Surgery Society, and it is with enthusiasm that I assume my term from 2022 to 2023. Providentially, my predecessors have already prepared the ground for the development of new and relevant initiatives to our Society.
Our members count years of experience as surgeons, and to become full members, in addition to being trained, they must demonstrate and maintain the highest standards of professionalism and ethical practice.
Our website is an open portal where all visitors can communicate, learn about our Society, and be informed on proven procedures and innovative treatments in our field. Patients looking for qualified surgeons can also use the provided locator to find a member in their area.
Our annual conferences and courses allow colleagues to share ideas and learn from each other. Due to the pandemic, for the first time, our 2020 congress was canceled in order to meet public health policies. Nevertheless, through virtual platforms, we were able to offer quality educational content to our members, even during this defiant period.
Fortunately, in 2021, the annual congress was successfully held in a hybrid way.
The current situation still renders some uncertainty, as it is difficult to predict how this pandemic will unfold and for how long social distancing will be imposed. Hopefully we can meet again in person in 2022.
Our annual congress (CIEPO) will be held on October 28th and 29th, in São Paulo – SP, at the Rebouças Convention Center. The congress will be preceded by a pre-congress on October 27th. We’ve been organizing special programs (scientific and social), always vigilant with the safety of all participants.
As president, and with the support of all, I am committed to contribute to an even greater enhance for SBCPO. I will do my best to carry our Society’s name even further.
