The main purpose of this study was to validate a method of measuring lower eyelid tension using a modified distraction test based on digital images. We had used this method in a study of prostaglandin (PG) induced eyelid tightening. Since we had created this method, at that time peer reviewers criticized its unknown reliability and the paper was rejected. So, we conducted this simple but well-designed study to verify the intraobserver reliability of this test (as used in the PG study), and also compared interobserver reliability. The study evidenced high reliability in both intra- and interobserver comparisons. After this publication, we were able to get the PG study accepted for publication in OPRS.
